Prepare Yourself for Summer Holidays (PDF dokument)
Consider the following vacation tips for your next getaway from a woman who went through all the goods and bads in Disneyland.
Get Packing
Where is it written that a woman has to pack for the entire family? I believe that being a woman doesn't automatically make you a better packer. That's why I had all of our stuff packed by my husband including the unmatched socks which he didn't even notice. And speaking of children, as my kids were skillful enough to play video games, they also managed to put their clothes in a suitcase.
Big Money
I visited Disneyland for my summer holiday and of course, we overpaid for two out of three daily meals. We even paid $35 for a hamburger, a soda and some fries. Luckily we had our hotel room reserved a month ago which turned out to be a smart thing, as the pancakes in the shape of Mickey Mouse seemed to have all the children crawl here followed by their eager parents.
Photo Opportunity
I didn't forget to take my camera. However, I managed to miss many photos because the camera was still packed neatly in my luggage. But then we took photos of ceilings and the inside of pockets because we accidentally pushed the button. Finally when we had our photos done, we found ourselves staring at some unfamiliar shapes.
Super-size It
My advice for travellers is to pack a full-size bar of soap, a shampoo and a conditioner. I know hotels provide those miniature bars, but it's like using an eraser. I washed my hair with a conditioner from a bottle the size of a lipstick tube and two hours later I had to have my hair cut, fortunately only the ends had to be cut away. But do you really need this shock on your holiday?
Beach a Go-go
And finally we come to the beach. As we moved from Disneyland to some sandier grounds, I packed necessary things for the beach in a separate bag. This included swimsuits, beach towels, hats, flip-flops and sunscreen. I almost forgot the beach toys, but I remembered on time. I packed the radio and reading material, too. Finally there were so many things to carry that I had my bags carried by a helpful door attendant.
Protect Yourself
You can never have too much sunscreen. The average adult needs to put on enough sunscreen to fill a small glass. Need motivation? I didn't put on enough of my sunscreen and by the end of the day I was red as a beetroot.
Sanity Savers
Last but not the least: It is good to take along your prescription medicine, just to be certain that nothing can surprise you. I took aspirin with me and, with my children, I drank quite a lot of these tablets, especially when we ran out of the plastic bags for carsickness after only fifteen minutes of driving!
