Green card Mark: I rated this an average mark because (I probably need to watch this a few more times) the ending was disappointing. I personally think the film ended without clear resolution of the main characters` relationship. But if you like the New York City ambiance, sophisticated, intelligent relationships and a good cast of actors you will like this film. Jo Ann: This is a great date movie. I love when they fall in love, despite their difference. I also love it how she loves him for him, and not this artificial romantic image that many American women have about French men. (This is quite evident throughout the movie). I recommend this to anyone who wants to see a great date movie, and who doesn`t mind a movie set in the 80s. Gerard Depardieu is truly magnificent, especially when his soft-spoken charm and smouldering glances finally melt the heart of the fair maiden (and mine too!). There are lots of genuinely funny scenes, mostly about misunderstandings between the sexes. I have watched this worthwhile romantic comedy several times and I enjoy as much every time. Die hard Susan: Eh... boring, humourless and lacks intensity; so action-less that I don`t think it can be classified an action film. This is, by far, the worst in the Die Hard Trilogy. We meet John McClane once again, but now he`s no longer funny, he`s just pathetic and he deserves our pity. He`s given a new "unlikely partner", much like the two previous films... only this time, it`s an obnoxious and annoying, even cowardly black racist, played by Samuel L. Jackson, who delivers an unappealing performance. I know this character was supposed to provide comic relief, but most of the time I just felt like knocking him out. The previous two films had action, chasing, intensity... this has very, very, very, far too long chase that lasts throughout most of the film. The two characters run around, from one bomb to another, but the audience never really feels any actual intensity, or feels that they are in actual danger, since it`s the same thing, constantly, over and over. The action was also dull and uninspired. The end is definitely the most anti-climactic end ever in an action movie. It`s like lighting some very expensive fireworks, only to find out that it`s a dud. If you are going to watch this "action" film, against my best advice, be sure to watch it for free; this is in no way worth spending money on at all. I don`t recommend this to anyone, since I have no idea how anyone could possibly find just a little enjoyment or entertainment value in this cinematic garbage. I don`t know... maybe if you have really low standards, zero expectations, and you enjoy looking at big explosions that happen for no other particular reason than to show off pyrotechnics... you could give it a try. But don`t say I didn`t warn you. Silence of the lambs Steve: It just gets better every time I see it. I have seen this film so many times that I can quote just about any scene in it. After the magnificent opening where the cinematography is absolutely amazing, it slows down and allows us to appreciate Clarice Starling`s assignment, her relationship with Hannibal Lecter and Buffalo Bill`s psychotic behaviour. We`ve got two of the best actors in the world, a practically perfect screenplay and a cinematographer who knows what he`s doing. Jodie Foster is outstanding in the role of Clarice Starling, the "woman in a man world" and where do I start with Anthony Hopkins. He may be the only actor alive who can make your feel sympathy and disgust at the same character, at the same time. There are times that you really do feel that Hannibal is a nice guy, before you remember exactly what he has done. But when Hannibal Lecter escapes, the director manages to cram the rising action, the climax, the down-going action and the ending in the remaining 10 minutes, and the result is, to put it mildly, overwhelming. I have never seen a movie before that made me feel like this one did, and I`m not easily scared by movies. Maybe "scared" isn`t the right term. Horrified. That`s it. So horrified that I watched it about ten more times. EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS FILM!
